Under the support of the State Key Laboratory Breeding Base of Tarim Basin Biological Resources Conservation and Utilization Group, the Biodiversity Laboratory has been conducting research on the collection and conservation of wild plants in the Tarim Basin for a long time.Since 2000, the research team has been engaged in the conservation of Populus euphratica, including the collection and conservation of germplasm resources, genetic diversity assessment, structure and function of Populus euphratica riparian forest ecosystem, as well as the conservation and monitoring of Populus euphratica forest ecosystem.System based on Populus euphratica, Populus pruinosa conservation biology research foundation, the characteristics and advantages of tarim university in 2014 approved the establishment of university scientific research platform – Euphrates poplar research center of tarim university, Populus euphratica, ash resources conservation and ecosystem conservation research provides a new platform, to provide technology support the sustainable development of regional economic and social security in Xinjiang.
The Research Center of Populus euphratica relies on the Key Laboratory of Tarim Basin Biological Resources Conservation and Utilization Corps — the State Key Laboratory Breeding Base jointly built by the province and the ministry as the technical platform.At present, the platform of Populus euphratica research center covers an area of 230 square meters, and the asset investment of instruments and equipment reaches 3.56 million yuan.
