1.Introduction

Fine forest and fine individual plants are the forest germplasm resources with excellent characteristics, which are characterized by robust development and good quality. The total number of excellent trees is more than 20%, and inferior trees account for less than 30%. After thinning and transformation, the excellent trees account for the vast majority of stands, and the production level is superior to that of most stands under the same site conditions.

So far, a total of 23 fine forest germplasm resources of Populus euphratica were collected and preserved in 16 counties (cities, districts) 7 prefectures (states and cities) of Xinjiang, including Hetian region, Aksu region, Tacheng region, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Kashgar Prefecture, Altay region and Karamay City. Among them, the number of administrative units and resources in fine forest counties (cities, districts) is mostly in Hotan and Aksu regions. Fine forest of Populus euphratica germplasm resources are distributed in both north and south Xinjiang, ranging from E 79°30'~87°27', N 36°51'~47°52',and altitude 248m~1426m.

A total of 14 fine forest germplasm resources of Populus pruinosa in Xinjiang were collected and preserved, which were distributed in 8 counties (cities, districts) in Hotan and Aksu regions of Xinjiang. Among them, the number of administrative units and resources distributed in fine forest counties (cities, districts) is mostly in Aksu region. It is distributed in the range of E 79°56'~83 51', N 36°49'~41°9', and altitude 936m~1455m.
